5-Part Workshop Series
Are you ready to learn how to make your own clothes? Join us for a comprehensive 5-part workshop series designed to teach you the essential skills for creating garments that fit and flatter your body. Each workshop is packed with practical techniques, hands-on learning, and expert guidance, making it easy to dive into the world of garment construction at your own pace. Whether you’re a complete beginner or someone with basic sewing knowledge, this series will equip you with the confidence and skills to sew your own wardrobe.
Each workshop runs for 3 hours, with the exception of Workshop 1: Essentials, which runs for 4 hours. Offering an in-depth look at key sewing skills, from pattern mastery to fitting your clothes, you will finish with the essential skills needed to sew your own clothes. Attend one workshop or all five, depending on your sewing goals and needs. No matter which you choose, you’ll leave with practical skills that you can immediately apply to your projects.

• The basics of fabric cutting and preparation for garment sewing.

Workshop 1: Essentials (Saturday, 1st February, 9.30am-1.30pm- $85)
Our Essential Skills workshop is the perfect introduction to all the key techniques you need to get started with clothing construction. This 4-hour workshop combines samples of our Pattern Mastery, Seams, Hems & Finishes, Pockets, Sleeves & Facings, and Pattern Fitting Basics workshops into one comprehensive session. By the end of the session, you’ll walk away with a solid foundation in the essential skills every sewist needs, whether you’re a beginner or just looking to refresh your knowledge. This workshop is designed to be interactive, with plenty of hands-on practice and guidance to ensure you leave feeling confident and ready to tackle your next project.

Workshop 2: Pattern Mastery (Saturday, 15th February, 10am-1pm- $75)
In this workshop, we’ll demystify the world of patterns! Learn about the different types of sewing patterns available (PDF, Paper, AO and Projector). Learn how to read, understand, and work with commercial sewing patterns. You’ll explore how to choose the right size, make essential pattern adjustments, and how to prepare and trace your own pattern. Whether you’re just starting out, or have some sewing experience, this session will give you the tools to feel confident using patterns in your sewing projects.

• How to read a pattern and choose the right size
• Taking body measurements and comparing them to pattern sizing
• Transferring pattern markings accurately, and creating a pattern ready for cutting
Workshop 3: All About Seams, Hems & Finishes (Saturday, 1st March, 10am-1pm- $75)
Seams are the backbone of any garment! This workshop will teach you how to sew different types of seams, finishes, and joinings that ensure your clothes are durable and professionally made. You’ll learn essential techniques for both the inside and outside of your garments, making sure that your sewing is as neat and long-lasting as possible. From French seams to bias binding, this session covers it all.

• Types of seams: straight, French, and overlocked
• How to finish seams to prevent fraying and improve durability
• Creating neat, professional-looking hems and edge finishes
• How to use bias binding, overlockers, and other tools for clean finishes
Workshop 4: All About Pockets, Sleeves & Facings (Saturday, 15th March, 10am-1pm- $75)
This workshop focuses on some of the most common and functional details of garment construction: pockets, sleeves, and necklines. Learn how to add different types of pockets to your projects, attach sleeves with ease, and create neat facings for necklines. These finishing touches will elevate your sewing projects and ensure that your garments have a professional look.

Workshop 5: Pattern Fitting Basics (Saturday, 29th March, 10am-1pm- $75)
A well-fitted garment is the key to looking and feeling great in your creations! In this workshop, we’ll focus on the basics of pattern fitting. Learn how to adjust patterns to fit your body shape and make essential alterations like full bust adjustments, shortening or lengthening hems, and adjusting for shoulder and waist fit. You’ll also have the chance to make a quick muslin or test garment to see how your adjustments work in real life.
